Aryna Sabalenka in disqualification row as star forfeits prize money

The action continues from the Australian Open, as the tournament enters Day Five on Thursday. Emma Raducanu suffered a disappointing exit on Day Four, but Cameron Norrie keeps the flag flying for the Brits, as he came through a gruelling third-round clash.

Aside from Raducanu’s untimely exit, it’s been a tournament of few shocks so far, with all the big-hitters across both sides of the draw still involved. Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz are both into the third round, while Aryna Sabalenka has made it through without dropping a set so far.

However, Sabalenka has found herself caught up in a row with one of her rivals, who has called for the world No.1 to be banned from competing down under. Here, Express Sport brings you all the latest scores, news and updates from Melbourne…

Roger Federer has broken the hearts of tennis fans by ruling himself out of the running to become Carlos Alcaraz’s next coach.

He told TNT Sports: “I’m out, I’m definitely out. Maybe I could give him some advice on the periphery but everybody knows I’m too busy with my children and my life at the minute.

“I think he can get [the career Grand Slam] with a coach or without a coach, he is that good obviously. A good coach definitely will be helping.

“I don’t know if he has already done press here and talked about his Ferrero situation a little bit, which is obviously going to be a little bit uncomfortable but it’s something you just have to do as a pro.”
