Chase Elliott has won a NASCAR Cup Series race at Daytona International Speedway. On Thursday night, Elliott and the No. 9 team for Hendrick Motorsports won the Duel 2 at Daytona, earning a fourth-place starting position in the 2026 Daytona 500. The Hendrick Motorsports driver also earned 10 points, tying himself with Joey Logano for the current lead in the Cup Series standings.
As for the open entries, Anthony Alfredo and Beard Motorsports locked a spot into the 2026 Daytona 500. Alfredo and the other open entries lost the draft; however, the No. 62 car was able to beat B.J. McLeod to the line. Meanwhile, J.J. Yeley was further back and wasn’t able to make the Great American Race.
Overall, McLeod, Yeley, Chandler Smith, and Corey LaJoie missed the 2026 Daytona 500. Meanwhile, Alfredo, Corey Heim, Justin Allgaier, and Casey Mears made the show.
