Emma Raducanu has set high goals for this season, but the latest defeat at Indian Wells caused disappointment for the young tennis player. The British tennis player tried to play at a high level, hoping to overcome a difficult obstacle.
However, Amanda Anisimova did not allow Raducanu to pose a threat, winning 6-1, 6-1 and showing that she is currently one of the most dominant tennis players.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Emma Raducanu shared all her frustrations, aware that there are many aspects of the game she needs to work on in the future. It seems that there are also problems of a mental nature, because the young tennis player clearly has a mental barrier when she has to play against top players, that is, against those who are in the top 10.
“When I’m playing someone who’s at the top like that, I think they have an extra 10 miles an hour on their serve than me,” she said, as quoted by Tennis Up To Date.
“If I’m not feeling it, that gap feels more evident in terms of weight of shot, in terms of power. You just feel a little bit behind and your punches aren’t landing as much as theirs are.”
Latest moves
The young 23-year-old made many moves in order to improve further and fulfill her potential.
After ending her collaboration with Francisco Roig, the British tennis player still competes in tournaments without a coach. Her next move could be the engagement of an important name from the coaching world, someone who can completely revive Emma Raducanu and help her reach her goal.
Raducanu pointed out that her approach was wrong, aware that she has to be more aggressive against players like Anisimova. She is also aware that she needs to change her play style and use significantly more power to achieve victory.
However, the British tennis player also sees some positives, saying that she felt good about her game at times, but was disappointed with other aspects that cost her in the end.
