Ralf, younger brother of F1 star Michael Schumacher, came out as gay and revealed his relationship with Bousquet-Cassagne in a July 2024
The former Formula 1 driver, 50, and his fiancé shared the news in a joint Instagram post on Tuesday, Feb. 10. The post includes a photo of the pair smiling and posing together as they clinked their glasses, as well as a statement
The statement, shared in both German and English, reads: “We are pleased to confirm that Ralf Schumacher and his partner Étienne Bousquet-Cassagne will be getting married. Both are delighted by the many kind congratulations they have received.”
“Ralf and Étienne will not comment on any further personal details and kindly ask that their privacy be respected,” the statement continues. “Thank you for your understanding.”
Ralf, the younger brother of former F1 legend Michael Schumacher — who sustained a brain injury in a skiing accident in 2013 — came out as gay and revealed his relationship with Bousquet-Cassagne in a July 2024 Instagram post.
Alongside a photo of the couple with their arms around each other as they watched a golden sunset from a boat, he wrote at the time: “The most beautiful thing in life is when you have the right partner by your side with whom you can share everything 🙏
His son, racer David Schumacher, shared his support in the comments of the post.
“I am very happy that you have finally found someone with whom you really feel very comfortable and secure, no matter if you are a man or a woman, I am 100% behind you dad and wish you all the best and congratulations,” he wrote.
My partner] Steven and I wish Ralf and Étienne all the best and much happiness,” she said, claiming that the engaged pair are eyeing a three-day wedding in Saint-Tropez in May.
