Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr confirmed that Stephen Curry will continue playing despite injuries and a challenging season. With Curry healthy, Kerr said the team will keep competing and give themselves a chance, focusing on effort and the process rather than resting their star.
Golden State Warriors are facing a challenging season. With Jimmy Butler out for the year, Kristaps Porzingis barely playing, and Stephen Curry still sidelined with a knee injury, the Warriors sit at 33-35 with just 14 games left in the regular season.
Despite the obstacles, Steve Kerr confirmed on the Tom Tolbert Show that the team will continue competing rather than shutting Curry down for the rest of the season.
“When people ask me about this year, and I’ve been asked this a few times, why don’t you just rest Steph the rest of the year? Well, he’s healthy, we’re competing, that’s what we do. And we want to give ourselves a chance, and like, that’s the whole point. The beauty is in the quest, it’s in the work. And when you do fail, it’s hard to get over it,” Kerr said.
Curry has put up impressive numbers this season, averaging 27.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 1.1 steals, and 4.5 three-pointers per game. However, he’s only played 39 games so far, limiting the Warriors’ consistency
Currently in ninth place, Golden State is likely safe from missing the play-in tournament with a 10-game lead over the eleventh seed, but mounting injuries make a deep playoff run uncertain.
