Novak Djokovic wants to regain his dominance in a Masters 1000 and is setting his sights on Indian Wells 2026. The Serbian hasn’t played any tournaments since reaching the final in Australia, and he has been seen training lightly in the United States in recent days. It has been years since he last won in Indian Wells, and although he has exited early in other years, he remains one of the big winners of this tournament. His draw features challenges from the third round onwards. We will see which version of him we witness.
The first Masters 1000 of the season will be the right opportunity to see the Serbian veteran back in action after the Australian Open, as he decided to skip the Doha ATP 500 last month. The 38-year-old from Belgrade needed to recharge his batteries after reaching the final at Melbourne Park, a truly extraordinary result for a player who does not stop making tennis history.
The former world No.1 needed such a result to give himself additional motivation ahead of the rest of the season, in which his main focus will be Grand Slam tournaments again
Nole has never hidden that the Majors motivated him to continue playing on the professional tour, but at the same time he loves the sport and intends to extend his career as long as his body and mind support him. One of his dreams is to represent his Serbia also at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, which will take place when he is 41 years old.
Nole wants his sixth title
The 24-time Grand Slam champion has been playing at UCLA in recent days and attended a live NBA game of the Los Angeles Lakers, having the chance to say goodbye to his huge friend Luka Doncic.
Novak has triumphed at Indian Wells on five occasions, but his last success dates back to ten years ago and he has never made it past the round of 16 since 2016. His level has been really low in the last two editions, in which he was eliminated respectively by Luca Nardi and Botic van de Zandschulp.
