Emma Raducanu left everyone in shock as she announces her

Emma Raducanu has made an expected decision and withdrawn from Nottingham after enjoying a deep Queen’s run and also picking up an injury.

Last week, the top-ranked British female tennis player notched four straight-set wins to reach her first grass-court final.

Unfortunately for Raducanu, she also sustained a thigh injury during Saturday’s win over Kamilla Rakhimova.

The following day, the British tennis star stepped onto the Andy Murray Arena for the final with her thigh strapped. But after falling 0-5 down to Donna Vekic, the home star had the strapping removed by a physio.

While Raducanu started to play better after having the strapping removed, she failed to complete a comeback as Vekic won 6-0 7-6 (6).

Raducanu out of Nottingham

Considering that the world No. 31 played five matches at Queen’s and also sustained an injury, the general belief was that she would opt to skip Nottingham.

On Monday, that became official after Raducanu confirmed she wouldn’t play at the British WTA 250 tournament. However, she didn’t cite the injury as the reason for her withdrawal, instead pointing to a change of schedule.

The decision should also allow the Briton some extra time to recover after a physically demanding week at Queen’s.

In the past, the former world No. 10 played in Nottingham three times, picking up back-to-back first-round exits in 2021 and 2022 before reaching the semifinal in 2024.

Raducanu was caught off guard when asked about her Nottingham participation

Speaking with the media following her Queen’s final loss, the Briton was asked whether she was still planning on going to Nottingham.

“I don’t know right now. I pretty much came straight into here. I haven’t necessarily decided. When does it start? Tuesday? Tomorrow? We’ll see, we’ll see!” she responded.

Raducanu is expected to return to action at next week’s Eastbourne tournament.
