The wait is just about over.
The opening of the LeBron James-inspired restaurant in his hometown is set for April 1.
The next big wait might be for a table at the long-anticipated hangout tucked inside of the House Three Thirty in Akron.
The restaurant has been a key component of the transformation of former Tangier on West Market Street in Akron since the foundation purchased the entertainment complex in 2020.
The sprawling complex is already home to a Starbucks, a Chase financial services center, a Secret Pizza shop, a Sweet Shop, a store with LeBron James gear, a cabaret and even a museum dedicated to the NBA star.
There’s also a large event space that will share the kitchen with the new restaurant.
Buckets will offer one more space that will be open to the community to nosh and perhaps watch a game or two on large screens inside the large restaurant, which will specialize in fried chicken and other dishes.
Like everything else inside House Three Thirty, the restaurant will be a training ground for partner families as part of the Foundation’s I Promise program that assists Akron families achieve everything from educational goals to hands-on career training.
The restaurant has quietly invited community members and others in recent weeks to sample the food as the kitchen staff works out the kinks before the April 1 public opening.
