LeBron James gets candid about Savannah’s sacrifices on his road to greatness

The Los Angeles Lakers‘ season suddenly took the darkest possible turn after the great form they had been in recently. In just a few days, they lost by 43 points to the Oklahoma City Thunder, and due to injuries, they will be without Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves for an extended period.

It is now clear that all the expectations will fall on LeBron James, who, at 41 years old, will have to carry the load until his teammates recover. He is more than capable of doing so, as he already showed in the first game against the Dallas Mavericks, which the Lakers did lose 134-128.

King James finished the game with 30 points, nine rebounds and 15 assists, shooting 12-22 from the field, once again showing the world that what he does on the court feels almost unreal.

Savannah was there for LeBron from day one

Although it is clear that his career is approaching its end, no matter how much he makes it seem like he can keep playing at this level for a few more seasons, there’s another side of life that continues to quietly pay the price.

Of course, it is his family — his wife Savannah, sons Bronny and Bryce and daughter Zhuri — who, because of the grueling 82-game regular season schedule and constant travel, still don’t see him as much as they would like.

In the Netflix documentary “Starting 5”, filmed a little over a year ago, the four-time NBA champion reflected on the fact that his high school sweetheart has, in a way, made sacrifices so he can fully dedicate himself to the game.

“You get lost in your own journey because you’re trying to push the limit, push the throttle, see how far you can go,” James said. “Oh, sht, that’s the sky? What’s beyond that? I’m trying to go past that. While you’re on that trajectory, at times, you’re looking down and like, ‘Oh, sht, my family’s down there.’ And they’re like, ‘Go!’ Savannah is like, ‘Go, fk it, go. We know you coming back. Fuk. Just go! I got Bronny, I got Bryce, I got Zhuri.’”

doesn’t take much to say that James has already secured his family’s future, especially after his net worth surpassed the billion-dollar mark and it’s only set to keep growing, while Bronny has already taken his own step, reaching an NBA contract.

All of this has allowed Savannah to live a comfortable life in a way, although raising three children without the constant presence of a father figure is extremely challenging and demanding.

However, as someone who has been with him since the very beginning of his journey, Savannah understands that the life path of “The Chosen One” is unique and has given them so many opportunities to move through life with ease and provide their children with a better future than they might have had under different circumstances.
