Novak Djokovic may be approaching his 40th birthday, but the Serbian remains one of the biggest stories in tennis.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion is still chasing a record-breaking 25th major title and recently reached another Wimbledon semifinal, proving he can still compete with the best players in the world. At the same time, Djokovic is preparing for a different kind of milestone away from the court.
The high ambitions of the experienced tennis player have always been noticeable, given that Novak’s interests are significantly greater than just tennis.
His new documentary, Wolf in Winter, will be released on Amazon Prime on August 20 and gives fans a closer look at both his tennis career and personal life. The project was directed by Jason Hehir, the Emmy-winning filmmaker behind The Last Dance, and includes appearances from Rafael Nadal, Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras, Boris Becker and several other prominent figures from the sport.
Ahead of the documentary’s release, Djokovic shared photos from a special evening spent with his family and close friends. His wife Jelena Djokovic, along with his parents Srdjan and Dijana Djokovic, joined him for the celebration as anticipation continues to build before the premiere.
The Serbian posted several moments from the gathering on social media and wrote:

While Djokovic’s achievements are already well known, the documentary aims to tell a broader story. It covers not only his victories and records, but also the struggles that shaped his journey.
Djokovic started playing tennis at the age of four and turned professional in 2003. He won his first ATP title in 2006 and lifted his first Grand Slam trophy at the Australian Open two years later. Since then, he has become the most accomplished men’s player of the Open Era, spending a record 428 weeks as world No. 1 and collecting 24 major titles.
However, the documentary is not focused just on trophies.
According to Prime Video, the film explores Djokovic’s upbringing in Serbia during a difficult period, the sacrifices made by his family, and the challenges he faced after arriving on the professional tour as an outsider during the Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal era. The documentary also includes behind-the-scenes footage from tournaments, training sessions and family life.
Speaking about the project, Novak explained why it means so much to him.

He also stressed that the film is about the people who have been part of his journey over the years.
“I’m proud to share this side of my life with my family, my team, my friends, and the fans who have supported me throughout.”
The timing of the release is interesting because Djokovic is still actively competing at the highest level. Unlike many sports documentaries that arrive after retirement, Wolf in Winter comes while he is still chasing the biggest titles in tennis.
That pursuit remains his primary focus.

Earlier this year Djokovic made it clear that Grand Slam success is still what motivates him most. Despite dealing with the physical challenges that naturally come with age, he has continued to produce strong results against younger rivals. His run to the Wimbledon semifinals was another reminder that he remains a threat at the biggest tournaments.
Many analysts still believe he has one more serious opportunity to win a Grand Slam title. Former players and commentators have repeatedly pointed out that Djokovic’s experience and ability to peak at Grand Slams make him dangerous even when younger stars such as Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz dominate headlines.
The US Open is now the next big target on his schedule.
