Novak Djokovic announced that he won’t play at the upcoming Madrid Open.
“Madrid, unfortunately I won’t be able to compete @MutuaMadridOpen this year. I’m continuing my recovery in order to be back soon. Hasta pronto!” he wrote on social media.
The Madrid Open runs April 20-May 3.
The 24-time major champion has been dealing with a persistent shoulder injury that caused him to miss Miami and Monte Carlo.
The world No. 4 was seen dealing with a forearm injury during Indian Wells and wore a white compression sleeve for support. He ultimately lost to Jack Draper in the round of 16 in three sets.
Djokovic, who turns 39 next month, is still seeking a record 25th Grand Slam title. His last major title came at the 2023 U.S. Open. In 2025, he lost in the semifinals of all four Grand Slam events.
