Pat Cash on whether Emma Raducanu can climb the rankings again

Emma Raducanu is under scrutiny every season, but so is the continuation of her career.

Having won the US Open at the age of 18, the British tennis player then became the subject of interest for everyone, although at first glance it seemed that this would give her additional motivation to continue her career.

So far, Emma Raducanu has not realized her full potential.

The 22-year-old Brit is currently 28th on the WTA list with a 7:7 win-loss record this year.

The British tennis player was dominant at the Transylvania Open, reaching the final, but the final obstacle in the form of Sorana Cirsteaproved insurmountable.

The first Grand Slam of this season, the Australian Open, did not bring her significant results, and after such disappointment, Raducanu decided to split with Francisco Roig, Rafael Nadal’s former coach, after only a few months of cooperation.

Among the experts who shared their views about her future is Pat Cash, who in one of the episodes of Nothing Major commented on Raducanu’s chances to advance in the WTA rankings.

Pat Cash points out that Raducanu has a good foundation for success and emphasizes that the young tennis player must have a clear game plan that can ease her way to the top.

He also warns fans that sometimes they are too critical of Emma, while it is important to look at the bigger picture.

mean, the game has changed. You know, she had a great run there at the US Open. Unbelievable tennis. If you look at the players that are now coming through, they are big, hard-hitting players.

And, you know, Emma’s not the biggest, strongest girl, but she hits the ball really cleanly. So, you know, you’d have to have a game plan.

I talk about it — it’s attrition really in the modern game. It’s being consistent day in, day out, day in, day out. She hasn’t been able to be consistent. She’s been injured a lot.” he said.

Modern tennis is significantly different from what it used to be — it’s grueling and requires consistency day in and day out.

The injuries that have been an integral part of her career have made her path to the top even more difficult, but Pat Cash still believes that the young tennis player has the potential to be at the very top in the rest of her career.

Raducanu is currently working with Petchey, whom Cash describes as a quality coach capable of making her path easier in the future. In the past, Emma has ended collaborations with several coaches, which proved to be a challenging journey but nevertheless provided her with valuable experience.

During her career, the young tennis player showed varying degrees of ability to deal with strong opponents and to dominate the tennis scene.
