Lewis Hamilton’s relationship with Kim Kardashian could be helping the American celebrity enter her best era yet, according to PR expert Kayley Cornelius, as the reality television star celebrate her 46th birthday this week.
The seven-time Formula 1 World Champion has brought a different dimension to Kardashian’s carefully cultivated public image, introducing her to the F1 lifestyle and allowing audiences to see a more relaxed side of the global celebrity.
Hamilton, 41, whose own profile extends far beyond motorsport through fashion, entertainment and business, is no stranger to the celebrity spotlight. His association with Kardashian brings together two of the world’s most recognisable personalities, whose lives have long been scrutinised by the media and public.
Speaking on behalf of Covers, celebrity PR specialist Cornelius believes Kardashian has reached a stage where projecting a carefully controlled image is becoming less important than appearing authentic.
Cornelius explained: “I think Kim is at a stage in her life where she doesn’t need to prove herself in the same way she might have done earlier in her career. She’s already built the business, is one of the biggest names in the world, and shown that she knows how to generate attention. At this point, there’s arguably more value in showing people who she is beyond all of that.”
Cornelius believes Hamilton’s influence lies not in changing Kardashian’s personality, but in introducing a different environment where she can appear less concerned about maintaining her carefully constructed brand. Whhere she is smaller than the event, in this isntance. Her presence more anonymous than most public gatherings.
Cornelius said: “What’s interesting about her relationship with Lewis is that it has given audiences another side of her life to engage with. Formula 1 has its own social scene, travel and events, and Kim can be seen in that environment as a partner enjoying herself, rather than always being the businesswoman or reality star with something to promote.
“I wouldn’t say that dating Lewis has suddenly made Kim a different person. But it has given her the opportunity to show a more relaxed, down-to-earth side of herself, particularly when we see the more spontaneous moments and less of the polished images like she has been sharing recently, unlike the highly controlled brand she’s known for.”
For Hamilton, whose Ferrari career continues to command enormous attention, his association with Kardashian further connects Formula 1 with mainstream entertainment and celebrity culture. Cornelius argues that Kardashian’s next chapter could be defined by a willingness to step away from the relentless demands of maintaining her public image.
New era for Kim that everyone can get behind
Cornelius continued: “There’s also something quite relatable about reaching a point where you don’t feel the need to make every appearance a major statement. Kim has spent years being photographed, discussed and analysed, so allowing some moments to speak for themselves could actually be a refreshing change.
“Although, that doesn’t mean she’s abandoning the image she’s built, it just means adding another layer to it. People already know Kim as a successful businesswoman and a reality TV star, but showing more of her personality and her life outside work could arguably be one of her best moves yet and unlock a new era for Kim that everyone can get behind.”
While Hamilton remains focused on his Formula 1 commitments with Ferrari, Cornelius sees the relationship as an opportunity for Kardashian to redefine how audiences connect with her. Whether that translates into a lasting transformation remains uncertain, but the PR expert believes the opportunity is significant.
For Kardashian, the next chapter may be less about attracting attention and more about enjoying life beyond the spotlight, with Hamilton potentially playing an important part in that evolution. The Briton will be in action this weekend at the United States Grand Prix, in Austin.
