Emma Raducanu issues health update to fan on Instagram as she might not

Emma Raducanu issued an update on her condition after responding to a fan on Instagram and confirming that that she was feeling “much better.”

The 2021 US Open champion, who contracted a virus during her runner-up finish in Cluj-Napoca in early February, stepped away from the Tour in mid-March to fully focus on her recovery. Since then, the Briton has withdrawn from Miami, Linz and Madrid.

As the public is wondering whether Raducanu will be able to kick off her clay season in Rome next week, the world No. 27 uploaded a series of photos to her Instagram account, showing to what she has been up recently.

I can’t wait to see you back out on court soon. I hope you’re feeling a lot better now,” a fan wrote in the post’s comment section.

Raducanu initially tried to play through it, but it wasn’t working out

After Cluj-Napoca, Raducanu decided to give a shot to the Middle East swing. But it didn’t go well after she retired from her Doha opener and was also beaten in her opening match in Dubai. In Indian Wells, she managed to beat Anastasia Zakharova but was easily beaten 1-6 1-6 by Amanda Anisimova in her next match.

In Cluj, I picked up like a virus, I think, at the start of the tournament. So I was dealing with that and the after-effects… I had really long effects for the last three weeks. I’ve been trying to clear them. So the Middle East trip was very difficult for me. I’m getting ready for Indian Wells and just trying to get back to full health. And I still have a bit of time, so I’m just looking forward to doing my best to be ready for that,” the former world No. 10 explained in late February.
